Project Update: Masonry Package Successfully Delivered at St Gabriel’s

by | Dec 3, 2025

This summer, Cara Brickwork proudly completed the full masonry package at St Gabriel’s for our client, McLaren Construction. This project has been a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate the skill, commitment and craftsmanship of our site teams, and we are incredibly proud of the standard of work achieved throughout.

The brickwork on this scheme is a true showcase of care, precision and attention to detail. From complex interfaces to architectural features, every element was delivered with quality at the forefront. A huge part of the project’s success came from the strong early collaboration between Cara, McLaren and SimpsonHaugh architects. Together, the teams worked through value engineering options, design development and an extensive process of creating 17 sample panels ensuring materials, colours and detailing were exactly right before work began on site. This upfront coordination set the tone for a smooth and efficient delivery.

Like many developments, St Gabriel’s presented a number of technical challenges. The site operated within a tight footprint, with around 90% of the work being crane-fed. The architecture included highly detailed feature brickwork, the use of four different mortar colours from three separate suppliers, and various refurbishment elements to existing buildings. Each of these factors required careful planning, sequencing and communication.

Thanks to strong coordination with the McLaren project team and a dedicated supply chain, the works progressed seamlessly and was completed in line with programme expectations. The collaborative approach across the entire project ensured that every stage from design through to installation was delivered to an exceptional standard.

Cara Brickwork is pleased to have contributed to this high-quality build, and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship with McLaren Construction on future schemes.
