Cara awarded Masonry on £47m Preston housing scheme

Cara Brickwork have secured the Masonry package worth over £4.6m to build a 250-home scheme on Homes England’s D’Urton Lane site in Preston for Willmott Dixon.

Located in Fulwood, the 126 week project will include a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom homes, with 127 of these made available for either shared ownership or affordable rent, with the remainder for outright sale.

The site sits off Junction 1 of the M55 and the M6, and forms part of Preston City Council’s masterplan for the North West Preston area.

Trafford Housing Trust, L&Q, and Willmott Dixon have formed a joint venture to deliver a £47m housing scheme.

Neil Allen – Contracts Director quoted:- “After the great success of the ‘Simonsway’ scheme alongside all the other successful Willmott Dixon schemes, we were extremely pleased to have been awarded this large housing scheme. The security of nearly 2 ½ years’ work in the Preston area means that we will be able to offer job opportunities to the local community including several bricklaying apprenticeships, which is fantastic news in this global pandemic”.
