The £50m development is being built on the former cinema and bingo hall site on Fishergate just a short walk from York city centre.
Rialto House has been given its name by the developer, Olympian Homes, after the iconic cinema which used to occupy the site and played host to The Beatles in 1963.
👨🏻🎓The 80,000 square foot, four storey building will provide 275 bedrooms for students as well as a gym, yoga studio, games room, cinema, co-working spaces, group dining areas, as well as integrated cycle parking and landscaped courtyards.
Marco Ercoli, Cara Brickwork’s Yorkshire MD, said: “In securing this contract we are further strengthening the close working collaborative relationship that we have developed in recent years with GMI Construction.
“GMI have commenced on site with piling and foundations work now ongoing. We are due to commence masonry works around early/mid June.”
