During a Cara Group SHE Committee meeting in February 2017 it was noted that although Cara Group’s RIDDOR has been zero for 2 years, there had been a number of near misses since the start of 2017.

The committee decided it would be beneficial to hold a Safety Stand Down in-order to raise awareness regarding the key areas where near misses were occurring. A Cara Construction Safety Stand Down was held at Elm Bank Hall on Friday 24th March, and the event was a really useful in raising awareness throughout the Cara team.

Cara Group SHE Manager Paul Grimes reviewed the recent near misses and explained how the company doesn’t want anyone to take any unnecessary risks, followed by Brian Grunes from CSTS raising awareness regarding confined spaces. Glen Parkins from 3Sixty training spoke to the workforce about the dangers of underground services, and then Louise Taggart presented her brother Michael’s Story.

Thanks to the guest speakers and thanks to everyone for attending, and please continue to work safely.
