BAM has awarded Cara the Masonry package on a partial refurbishment and partial new build design and build project worth around £20 million.
The Accident and Emergency and Medical Admissions Unit will be completely reworked by BAM which will improve the delivery of services and layout for patients. The company will also deliver a new 24-bed Critical Care Unit.
The phasing of the works will be managed so that the new build will be delivered first and hosts the A&E department whilst the existing building is refurbished, before the Critical Care Unit is established for its permanent home.
The works started on site in Spring 2012 on one of the largest hospital sites in the country, with Cara’s works due to start Mid July 2014.
