Cara’s Impact on the Northwest with ‘The Railings’ Development

by | Jan 28, 2025

Cara first laid a brick on Phase 1 back in 2017 and in total we have laid over 2½ million bricks and created over 1,300 new homes as well as shops and restaurants. This mini village is a lovely project with excellent detailing that has won several awards in the industry. We have worked closely with BCEGI at design stages, helped with programme issues, valued engineered where we could without forfeiting the quality of the result and agreed the Final Accounts with ease, all this is why BCEGI kept working with Cara on all phases.

‘The Railings’ is set to become one of the largest and most significant regeneration projects in the Northwest. This ambitious development will deliver a total of 189 new homes, offering a mix of residential options. Among the new homes are seven exclusive waterside townhouses as well as six mews houses. The project will also feature two high-rise blocks, one standing at 10 storeys and the other at 12 storeys, offering a modern urban living experience. This redevelopment aims to transform the local community, providing much-needed new housing while enhancing the area’s overall appeal and infrastructure.

Cara have employed 7 apprentices and have ensured that 87% of the workforce on the project come from the local area, supporting the regional economy. We have committed to giving back including donating over £1,000 worth of food to local food banks. Additionally, we’ve backed multiple job fairs to connect with job seekers with potential employers and have worked alongside Build Salford to create employment opportunities for the long-term unemployed. Our partnership with Salford City College has also been instrumental, we’ve participated in ‘Meet the Employer’ events and delivered talks, helping guide students in their career journeys.
